LEGACY PRIDE – Mind Your Business

Legacy Pride is a unique crime fighting organization which has been borne out of the tragedy of losing loved ones to violent and senseless crime in South Africa.

In 2002, Bruno Corte, co –founder of Legacy Hotels and Resorts was murdered during a shopping heist in Melville. This June will mark 4 years since  Bart Dorrestein Jnr was gunned down in a botched hijacking in Hurlingham. It was 3 days after his 25 birthday. They didn’t even ask for the car – they just opened fire – He died shortly afterwards in the hospital.

In an attempt to make some good come of their tragedy and to create a lasting Legacy on their behalf we started the Legacy Pride campaign In November 2008.

We created 2 soft  lion toys; each named in memory of Bruno and Bart respectively, and offered these for sale to the public.

What started as a personal tribute has now expanded as a result of its own success. We have since partnered with the families of other victims of crime and created an animal for each of them- namely Leigh Matthews, Merissa Naidoo, Steven Siebert, David Rattray and Brett Goldin.

These animals cost R150 each and are available at any Legacy Hotel, or alternatively online from our website.

All proceeds from the sales of these toys are used directly in the fight against crime and  we would like to invite all of South Africa to join us . This week is an especially good week to buy your toy as it is the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day.
