MR SOUTH AFRICA FINALIST - CHARITY DINNER

A date as well as a venue has already been confirmed, I would like to thank everyone for their continued support, it’s been overwhelming.

My campaign continues and those who’ve come to know me know that the charities I’ve chosen are dear and close to my heart and have been selected as a result of insufficient funds, means and support.

Over and above the fund raiser benefit, those who would like to get involved in any of the fourth coming projects or drives I’m currently involved in please feel free to contact me.

The fundraiser will be held on the 27^th February 2009 on The Roof Top @ Park Hyatt Hotel in Rosebank, it’s set for 20h00.

Everyone is expected to dress to impress, a professional photographer will be in attendance to capture the event filled evening.

I’ve made provision for 60 Guests therefore I would appreciate those keen on attending to R.V.S.P before the 16^th February 2009.02.09

Your contribution of R200.00 per person is highly appreciated and will be donated on the evening to the proposed charity.

Your contribution of R200.00 per person amounts to a total contribution of R12 000.00 that would inevitably make a difference in someone life.

METAFIX: Meteorology students reaching out to the Community.

This community project is completed each year where the needs for educational and basic needs are recognized and money is sponsored or raised to fulfill these needs in the community.

Main Aims

§                 Repair the fog nets, install gutters and water storage tanks for the collection of water.

§                 Run workshops at all the four schools on water sanitation and the dangers of cholera.

§                 Paint classrooms and improve general aesthetics.

§                 Establish a vegetable garden at one of the schools.

§                 Provide textbooks, books, stationary, computers and computer software for improved literacy to all the schools.

The total budget is split into two sections: main expenses (R 55 720) and educational expenses (R 75 910). Any contribution towards either or both of these expenses will be appreciated. The total budget is R131 630.

The meteorology community project received international recognition and obtained a prize in the esteemed Educating Africa, Pan African Awards for Entrepreneurship in Education: Teach a Man To Fish.

Moments in Time.

The Moments in Time project began as a simple yet sophisticated calendar, but over time has evolved into a kaleidoscope of colour and a range of different products.

The calendar project features South African people living with cancer, each afflicted with one or other type of cancer, all from different backgrounds, with different life experiences.

Imagery and prose are used to tell each patient’s story and inspire those who are battling cancer.

All proceeds raised from the sale of the products are channelled into the Moments in Time Trust; a public benefit organisation (PBO) established for the sole purpose of distributing the project funds accrued.

South African cancer patients not on medical aid can apply for financial support from the Moments in Time trust.

The trust has been able to offer hope where there has been none and many lives have been forever and indelibly changed by the funding granted.

Without the trust, many of the beneficiaries would have been forced to discontinue treatment – often because even the cost of transportation to hospital has been too steep for the patient.

The Trust bridges the gap and has and continues to help patients in their battle against cancer.
