Deputy ANC President Jacob Zumas fraud and corruption trial gets underway in Pietermaritzburg today. This trial is expected to attract a lot of Zuma supporters, besides all the media attention. Pietermartizburg hasnt been this full to capacity since the Comrades marathon. Lots of comrades this time though, but theyre not running down to Durban.

Masked Kwaito star Sgonodos identitiy has been uncovered. Hes serving a five year in prison for theft. Hes just released his debut album Amadragon with the help of Kwaito king, Arthur Mafokate. At least Sgonodo is original, he didnt get his mother to release his album after his death.

Our top interior decorating analyst, Anton, says that Beirut needs lots of work. He added, When the Israelis have finished, call me, but Ill need a whole team, and its going to be a twenty year project.

And in your finance - your purchase of Sgonodos new album, could help finance his appeal. Support, dont support, up to you.

MORNING MONEY SHOT

Weve been talking about the importance of saving in the last couple of weeks. When is it time to make the switch from saving to investing? Do you need to save before you invest? Whats the difference?

Saving is a secure way of accumulating money. In other words, not spending. Theres no risk involved. Investing, on the other hand, can be risky. Investing is spending money to buy things like stocks and shares, property, a business& it could be art, antiques, even cars - with the expectation of earning a profit in the future.

The perception is that its the billionaires who invest and the ordinary folk who save. The big investors are seen as risk takers and if theyre successful, they reap huge rewards. But if they fail, they could lose everything. Savers can just accumulate funds quietly without worrying that their money is going to sink overnight with the volatile markets. For most people, this means using managed investments like unit trusts to achieve their long-term goals. If you use professionally-managed investments for your long-term plan, you don't have to become an expert in the markets.

Theres help out there! So should you be saving or investing - or both? As we mentioned last week, you should save a minimum amount equal to six months (or even a year or more!) of your income. Then youre in a comfortable financial position to start investing.

Save first and then start investing and watch your money grow. The best thing to do is to talk to a financial advisor theyll explain the different saving and investment options available to you. There are many options& even for parents to help kids save and vice versa. All you have to do is pop into your nearest bank and ask to speak to a consultant its free and itll help you on the road to financial freedom. And, of course, you can email moneyshot@5fm.co.za and the experts will point you in the right direction.

Tour de France winner, Floyd Landis has tested positive for testosterone in his urine sample. This has come as quite a shock to the cycling community. Everyone knows erythropoietin is much more effective than testosterone.

US President George W Bush says he wants an end to the conflict in southern Lebanon as soon as possible, but that he doesnt want a "fake peace". Nobody really understands what that means, but Bush did add, Ive been married for almost 30 years, and I know exactly what faking is all about.

Katie Holmes has made an about-turn on her decision to quit acting and become a stay-at-home mom. Katie is meeting with her agent soon, and wants to get back into acting. The three months staying at home watching Tom Cruise jumping on the couch has made her realise theres more to life than watching your husband jump on a couch for the next forty years.

And in your finance you probably just got paid& pace yourself.
