Erin is in fact the archaic or literary name for ‘Ireland'- which makes no sense because she’s not from Ireland nor would she describe herself “archaic” (which in ancient Greek mythogoly means ‘’old-fashioned or very old)- and nothing written in this first line has anything to do with what she does at 5FM.
Nonetheless, Erin Fox is what the country knows her as and more so as News Presenter on The Nick Hamman Show. Ms Fox, began her broadcasting career back in 2009 working on the UEFA Champions League as a Presenter/Reporter for ETV. Then a few months later she got roped into the news room as a Sports Journalist & Reporter, also within eNCA. In 2012 she walked away from the cameras. A short stint in software as a Software Architect and Integration Specialist quickly made her miserable enough to know that it was time to get back into Broadcasting. God's intervention...and 2018 saw 5FM’s sister station, Good Hope FM, clutching at her heels. She was brought on as resident News and Sports Presenter on the Weekend Drive shows. But as Erin would say…”God had BIGGER plans ”- 5FM presented an opportunity and had she refused it, she would’ve never forgiven herself. Summed up, she’s the biggest sport’s fanatic, loves playing Xbox and enjoys a good craft beer or three.
A devout Christian with an infectious personality, Erin likes to keep her presenting simple and is mum on her future plans for her career. Her biggest pet peeve about her job...? “When my tongue decides to jump ship and abort mission- verbal dyslexia is a real thing in my life but I laugh it off because I’m human”.
You can catch her Monday to Friday covering News from 9AM-12PM.
When I'm not on air, I . . .
I’m on the couch, watching Sport, especially football. I’m a mad football fan and one of the BIGGEST Liverpool supporters alive.
When someone finds out what I do, or where I'm from, the question I always get asked is . . .
(Finding out what I do)…People usually start off with “That’s so cool, you definitely have a voice for radio” - and then I get asked how I refrain from swearing on air or I get an “on the spot” audition. Becomes awkward, especially when we’re standing in the middle of a busy Woolworths.
If I had a boat/yacht, I would name it . . .
"Filia Regis"- which is Daughter of the King in Latin.
The most useless talent I have is . . .
I can hit an insane amount of flies, mosquitos and moths with a dishcloth....it’s a neat party trick and the guys find it impressive- so maybe not useless after all.
The one quote or saying some people spout that I think is complete BS is . .
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”-
I rolled my eyes so hard, I saw my brain.
