It's been 20 years since the Fall of the Berlin Wall. Previous experiments like twistori.com have proven that Twitter is a great 'dipstick' research tool / a way to assess or aggregate the collective consciousness of people.
The Berlin Twitterwall does just this and aggregates and displays all the twitter messages that use the hashtag #fotw in an effort to encapsulate and represent peoples' feelings about this historically significant event. The messages scroll 'real-time' across a virtual East Side Gallery.
The aim of the project is to share thoughts on the fall of the wall as well as to focus on "which walls still have to come down to make our world a better place".
At the time of writing 5,984 tweets had been aggregated.
It's a great use of a digital medium to remember an historic event. I'm thinking a World Cup specific project would be a cool idea in SA…..
