Andy Samberg Hosts the “2009 MTV Movie Awards” 

Instead of a presenters’ break for an on-stage “smoke,” this year’s “2009 MTV Movie Awards” promises to get movie fans high on star power alone! Sure to make movie-lovers and celeb-watchers everywhere green with golden popcorn envy, a bevy of the hottest stars in Hollywood are confirmed to hand out awards as Denzel Washington, Cameron Diaz, Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Vanessa Hudgens , Leighton Meester, Jonah Hill and Lil Wayne are the first to be announced in the growing list of presenters.

With a stage this hot, viewers can expect another year of incredible pairings and extreme moments. They join previously revealed performer Eminem, who will take the stage to perform music from his anticipated new album Relapse, available May 19, and give one of the captivating and unconventional live MTV performances fans live for. Hosted by Andy Samberg, the “2009 MTV Movie Awards” will be broadcast  on MTV base (DStv Channel 322) on Sun 7 June @ 6pm; Mon 8 June @ 9pm and on 10 June @ 3pm. 

The “2009 MTV Movie Awards” marks the first year in which the final nominees were decided on by the fans. A movie megabattle between devotees of “Twilight” and “Slumdog Millionaire,” both movies are neck-in-neck as each film has nominations in six award categories.

MTV will up the cinematic fun quotient this year by debuting the two new categories “BEST SONG FROM A MOVIE” and “BEST WTF MOMENT.” Fans will get the chance to vote on their favourite movie soundtrack hit and pick year’s most jaw-dropping “WTF” movie moment that left audiences speechless. Viewers can decide the golden popcorn destiny of their favourite flicks by visiting MovieAwards.MTV.com before May 27 to vote for their favourite film moments and actors but the category of “BEST MOVIE” will be a fight to the end as voting for favourite film of the year will remain open throughout the LIVE show.
