CCZF - Oasis

Oasis, this year’s Coca-Cola Zero Fest headline band, lead the field of nominees at the 2009 NME music magazine awards announced in London last night.

Britain's Oasis are shortlisted in seven categories ahead of next months' awards ceremony, and surprisingly besides their Best British Band, Best Live Band and Best Album nominations, they were also included in the Hero of the Year (for which US President Barack Obama was also nominated) and Best Dressed categories for songwriter/guitarist Noel Gallagher.

Noel Gallagher added: "Seven nominations you say? Is that all? I always knew my time would come in the best dressed man in the world category."

Coca-Cola Zero Fest director, John Langford: “Clearly Oasis should be on every music fan’s list of bands to see live”.

Coca-Cola Zero Fest, this Easter – Johannesburg and Cape Town only.

Same here, Coke has lost a good few ticket sales, none of our friends will be attending. Clearly John Langford does not have a clue what people actually want to see.

To the Anonymous gay who likes to say something about everything. This Coke Fest is the only beg Fest in the hole of South Africa and it needs to be suported so that the numbers go there so they can go bigger and better.Anyway the lineup is good enough for me. And idiots like Anonymous is the cause of our lineup not having the best bands.

Support the fest it is the only one we have

Dear Anonymous Moron,
It's idiots like you who are prepared to settle for less that get us crappy bands. After all the spectacular bands they have had in previous years why should we settle for 2nd rate bands now? Other than BFMV the rest aren't worth jack. They are all far from Metal/Hard Rock.
There will be 8 fewer tickets bought as my friends and I are not prepared to pay to see this. Very sad indeed as we have been to the Coke Fest every year and had a blast! Guess this year we will have to find something else to do.

2nd rate bands???? hahahaha oasis have sold 60 million albums....2nd rate???

oasis still are the biggest band on the planet, stats dont lie!

Oasis are fantastic. They are the only reason we are going. The rest of the moaners can stay at home and watch 7de Laan on your own,

dunno how anyone can call Oasis second rate. Just as they took inspiration from bands like The (Legendary) Beatles for example, they have inspired dozens of great new bands in the genre.

Stats don't lie? Oasis the biggest band on WHICH planet? AC/DC, on yet another world tour, sold 42 million copies of Back in Black alone - that is one album! So take your 60 million and choke on that stat! Coke ZERO fest - ZERO talent, ZERO interest and ZERO attendance!

I totally agree that the line-up this year is unimpressive. I was so looking forward to hearing the announcements of the line-up and was disappointed every time they announced a new band. It seems that the organisers think they can flash one big band (Metallica, Guns'n'Roses, Oasis) and we the concert-starved South African public will lap it up like fools. They should rather consider more closely who we actaully like and listen to based on radio. Last year was awesome - Muse was a very clever choice as was Korn because they rocked the placed. This year I have no interest in seeing Oasis. Kaiser Chiefs was such a letdown last year (as I find many British rock bands to be) and their choice of another British band as the headliner this year just seems dumb to me. I'm rather going to wait and see what V-FEST brings along. Hopefully they can learn from Coke-Fest's mistakes.
