Thieve - the new pop-rock band from Bellville, Cape Town - formed in November last year and have
since been working on pre-production for their debut album. The wait is almost over... their album "GOLD" will hit the shelves on 19 October.
Although a relatively new band, the guys are certainly not new to the music industry. On vocals and bass: Andrew Davenport (formerly of Ashtray Electric); on guitar and backing vocals: Fred Den Hartog (formerly of Die Helde) and on drums: Philip Erasmus (formerly of New Loud Rockets).
Not only are the musos themselves experienced, they've received the support and backing of two rocking and established bands - also from Belville. The opportunity to record came about by the support of Jaco ‘Snakehead’
Venter from Fokofpolisiekar. He later involved friends Hunter Kennedy
and Pierre Greeff, from Die Heuwels Fantasties, who signed them to
their indie label, Supra Familias.
What to expect from the album: Catchy melodies, supported by strong guitar-based instrumentation and
groove - making their sound easy to listen to - and sing along to.
The band's upbeat single 'Last Day December' kick-started Thieve’s career when it first appeared
on Rhythm Records’ Bellville Rock City compilation at the end of 2008.
The video for this track was produced by Frieze Films.
