TOP 100 ALBUMS OF THE DECADE

POSTED BY MELATTREE, DECEMBER 30, 2009 09:50 AM | PERMALINK | 0 VOTES

As the end of another year approaches many of us start looking back and take stock of what has happened. It's a cool time of year for 'Top X lists' and an even better time in the decade for 'Top 100 Lists' when different industries round up their best and biggest...

Tomorrow on 5FM from 2pm we'll be celebrating the Top hits of the Decade so make sure you tune in.

In one of the more interesting Top 100 lists, Rolling Stone has put together a feature on the Top 100 Albums of the Decade.

I like album lists as I think that producing a great album is obviously more of a skill than releasing a single song. Radiohead tops the list and it's interesting to see MGMT, Amy Winehouse and Jay-Z feature in the Top 20....check it out here.

Radiohead

ALSO check out their list of the top 100 songs of the decade.

“Hey, Soul Sister”
is the first single to be taken from Californian rock band Train's

fifth album Save Me San Francisco. Lead singer Pat Monahan has said that this song, along with the rest of the album, marked a return to the group's folk-rock roots.

“Feel It” is the first single from Memphis rap group Three 6 Mafia's

tenth studio album, Laws of Power. The song features Flo-Rida, Sean Kingston and Tiësto, who also produced the track. Three 6 Mafia's Juicy J has said that they “just went into the studio and did it. Tiësto made the track, and we recorded our parts. Sean Kingston came in on the record, and it's banging. It's heating up, man. Flo-Rida's on it too”.

AVATAR

POSTED BY MELATTREE, DECEMBER 29, 2009 10:00 AM | PERMALINK | 7 VOTES

Avatar recently came onto the movie circuit in SA, this may be one of the most talked about movies we've been exposed to. It's directed by James Cameron (known for big budget films like Titanic.)

I've followed a lot of conversation about the movie on blogs, twitter and facebook, most of it seems to be positive. I haven't seen the movie yet but I'm keen to see how the Augmented Reality idea works....the visuals look pretty impressive.

The ever outspoken Slick Tiger has written a pretty comprehensive review over at MoralFibre.co.za - check it out - here's another link to some of the international reviews

I'm very keen to watch it, perhaps you've seen Avatar already, if so what did you think???
