5FM TAKES AFRICA TO BREAKFAST - NICK HAMMAN BROADCASTS LIVE FROM CÔTE D’IVOIRETHIS AFRICA MONTH
May 11,2026
Johannesburg, Thursday, 7 May 2026 – South Africa’s favourite breakfast show is about to wake up the continent from a whole new vantage point as Nick Hamman takes 5 Breakfast to Côte d’Ivoire from 9 to 17 May, broadcasting live in celebration of Africa Month. From the bustling streets of Abidjan to the UNESCO-listed beauty of Grand-Bassam and the craft-rich villages of Korhogo, Nick will be sharing every moment of this extraordinary journey with the 5FM community.
This invitation places 5FM at the heart of a high-level cultural and tourism mission that explores the cocoa value chain in San Pedro, the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro, the Sénoufo craft workshops, and the coastlines, food, music and traditions that make Côte d’Ivoire one of Africa’s most exciting destinations. It’s a rare opportunity for South Africans to experience the continent through the eyes of a storyteller who has already travelled thousands of kilometres across South Africa, as well as the rest of Africa, and brought listeners along for every step.
As Africa Month celebrates unity, creativity and connection across the continent, this mission gives 5FM exclusive access to the people, places and ideas shaping West Africa right now. Expect live broadcasts from iconic locations, conversations with mayors, producers, artisans and cultural leaders and the kind of real-time discovery, cool and wonder that only 5 Breakfast can deliver.
Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM, says this moment reflects the station’s growing role in amplifying South African and African youth culture: “Wherever the energy of Africa is rising, you can be sure that 5FM is there. Nick’s broadcast from Côte d’Ivoire is another chance fo young South Africans to see themselves as part of a bigger continental story. We’re proud to bring our
listeners along on a journey that celebrates creativity, culture and connection across Africa.”
From the cocoa fields of San Pedro to the craft villages of Korhogo, from seaside dinners to cultural immersions and city explorations, Nick will be capturing the sounds, stories and spirit of Côte d’Ivoire for listeners back home. It’s Africa Month, Ampli5ed.
