Leshabe “ShabZi Madallion” Rampedi joined 5FM in 2014, bringing with him a rare mix of creativity, technical mastery, and musical insight. A graduate of the Academy of Sound Engineering with a diploma in Sound Engineering and additional studies in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, he has spent more than a decade shaping audio and creative experiences for South Africa’s leading youth station. His early roles behind the scenes—from board-controlling and troubleshooting to audio imaging and production—helped define the sound of several award-nominated 5FM shows, including 5 Lunch (2021 – 2023) and the national afternoon drive show 5 Drive, where he currently serves as Senior Technical Producer.
Beyond the console, ShabZi is a respected hip-hop artist with more than 21 projects to his name. He is now the producer and co-host of 5 Hip Hop Nights alongside DJ Speedsta, a national platform celebrating South African hip-hop culture, artists, and storytelling. His dual role as broadcaster and musician positions him as one of the station’s most versatile voices—bridging technical excellence with authentic cultural conversation.
