5FM is gearing up to bring a major youth punch to Rise Against Hunger Africa\u2019s Mandela Month campaign on 17 July 2026, as the station heads to the Sandton Convention Centre for a full\u2011day meal\u2011packing takeover, specifically aimed at helping kids in Early Childhood Development (ECD).<\/p>\n

As part of the national Feed the Future \u2013 3 Million Meals in 31 Days movement, 5FM will broadcast live from 09:00 \u2013 18:00, with the station\u2019s on\u2011air fam, Youngblood 5 (YB 5) contributors, celebs and 5 Nation friends of the station jumping in to help pack thousands of meals for vulnerable children across South Africa.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s activation builds on last year\u2019s incredible achievement, where 2.9 million meals were packed in July 2025, including 1.4 million meals on Mandela Day alone - a milestone 5FM is ready to help push even higher in 2026. The station\u2019s personalities will be on the ground, sleeves rolled up, bringing hype, heart and hands\u2011on support to Rise Against Hunger Africa\u2019s mission to fight food insecurity and uplift early childhood development centres nationwide\u2026 and we\u2019ll be bringing the VIBE with 5FM\u2019s Friday shows \u2013 5 Mid Mornings, 5 Lunch\u00a0 and 5 Drive - broadcasting live from location.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, sister station Good Hope FM kicked off Mandela Month at GrandWest Casino on 7 July, where over 700 volunteers packed 129,600 meals for vulnerable children. Good Hope FM will continue its Mandela Month involvement on 17 July at Morgenhof Wine Estate, also joining Rise Against Hunger Africa\u2019s mission to pack 3 million meals in 31 days.<\/p>\n
